Holiday Reading with books by Patricia Polacco; Hanukkah, Christmas and Epiphany

The winter holidays are a perfect time to enjoy these special books by Patricia Polacco. Share the holidays of Christmas, Hanukkah, and Epiphany as you enjoy the stories by Patricia Polacco. Many of the stories are based on stories passed down through her family.

For each book you'll find:

Read aloud Chat Cards (used by the teacher to discuss the book as it is being read)

Folding Mini-Book, made by the students with pages about the characters, reflection about the specific story, and the lesson learned in the story

Craft project for each book. One of the projects may require adult support. Each craft project had step-by-step directions with photos.

If you want your students to read the books in small groups there is also a Circle Discussion Wheel. Groups of 4 students can read the book. Each student will have a job; Reader, Questioner, Character Analyst and Summarizer. The Discussion Wheel rotates to give each student a chance to have each job.
