Description
Math is best learned in real life situations. This project puts students into the real life situation of making a holiday recipe. Students create a food budget and a timeline, available in a printed version and a Google Classroom version. While working on problem solving and creative thinking, students also work on rounding, addition and elapsed time. A simple grading rubric has been built in to give students guidance and feedback. Working as individuals, or as groups, this project is sure to get students' minds working.
Students need to find their own holiday recipe to use with this project. You may choose to use this as a time to involve families. You may also choose to assign recipes from the Holiday Cookbook for Kids that was created by a group of teacher bloggers from around the world.
