This packet was created with the older student in mind. It includes tasks which require students to apply good executive functioning and organizational strategies to accomplish a variety of tasks they may be faced with during the holiday season. These strategies, however can be implemented when completing any task, at any time of year!

Included:

An overview of “What is Executive Functioning?” and EF developmental checklist for ages 8 through high school.

An organizational guide to review with students prior to utilizing the task activity sheets or anytime you are addressing executive functioning strategies.

"What will it look like when it’s done?” activity sheet which borrows from the strategy of “starting with the end in mind”. By drawing a picture first, it will help students better understand the expectations of the task ahead of time. ***Utilize this activity sheet BEFORE completing the task sheet!

Planning form--to be used along with each of the task activity sheets. This organizational diagram asks students to list materials needed for the task, how much time is needed for each task, and troubleshoot what could possibly go wrong while completing the task. ***Utilize the planning form after completing each of the task sheets. They are also great generic graphic organizers for any task you need to carry out.

Task sheets for:
•Decorating a Christmas Tree
•Baking Sugar cookies
•Purchasing a Gift
•Wrapping a Present
•Planning a Holiday Party

Check off the necessary steps for each activity—there are 10 correct steps and a few incorrect steps that the student must identify. Then, fill in the missing steps at the bottom half of the sheet.

•A corresponding sheet for each activity challenges students to fill in all 10 steps accurately.

Two December calendars (2014 and 2015 versions included) and one set of questions that help you plan and organize the time frames needed to complete a variety of holiday tasks.

24 gift bows (make additional copies if needed). Students collect bows for correct responses. Once they receive all 6 bows, they can trade them in for a gift chosen randomly from a pile.

Gift game cards-- includes 36 gifts that appeal to the tween/teen crowd.

One collectible “speechsnacks” recipe card for “Grinch-kabobs”
