Holiday Trees Counting with 5, 10 & 20 Frames {Subitizing}

Subitizing, perceptual (instant recognition of a quantity of objects) and conceptual (recognizing smaller groups of objects and adding them together), is an important early math skill which will aid students as they progress to more difficult topics.

This packet contains three sets of ten objects with a Christmas holiday trees theme.

Print and laminate the cards for durability. Cut them out and post at various locations around the room. Alternatively, the cards may be placed into a container for use at a learning center.

You can use the sets individually, or you may mix-and-match to create even more learning opportunities.

Counting Pages: Half-page answer sheets for each set are provided for the children to record their answers. These are ideal for use with mini-clipboards which are easier for young children to manage. Also provided are pages with three response options from which to select the correct amount.

Do your students need an extra challenge? Additional full-page recording sheets have been included for the children to: (1) write what comes after, (2) write what come before, and (3) write what comes both before and after. If you use mini-clipboards in your classroom, simply fold the pages in half and have your students complete one side at a time.
