This play “The 3 Little Elves and The Big Bad Scrooge” was written by Dana Ciuro as a Holiday Performance- can be used either as a class performance or for an entire grade level - of two to three classes. It is a spin-off of the 3 little pigs and the big bad wolf. However, since we were asked to perform a Christmas play I decided with my class to change the characters around to reflect the holiday season: Santa and his elves and the big bad scrooge. If you are looking for a play to get your students in the Christmas spirit of joyful laughing, look no further, this is the play for you. Parents were overjoyed at how much their children loved being a part of this excitement. It truly brings out the holiday spirit in everyone!
This play is about 10-15 minutes long. I have performed this play several times now with my fourth grade classes. It can be used from grades 3-5. If you choose to only use it with one class you can combine the narrator parts. Students overall loved creating the props and being a part of this play.
Included in the purchase of this play is a full script with all characters from main characters to the narrators. There is also a song with lyrics attached that is popular song, “You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch.” However, we changed Mr. Grinch to Mr. Scrooge. A few tips on how I created the props for the elves houses and costumes.
