Our Holidays Around the World unit has to be one of our favorites every year to learn about and for me to teach. The idea is for students to learn and understand the holiday traditions celebrated by other countries. The booklet pages included in this resource were meant for students to focus on specific details of a celebration in a country while also reflecting on their own family traditions. I hope you find this resource more than useful!
-All pages were made to fit your Target Blank Books found in the Dollar Spot. No books? No problem! You can simply staple the pages and turn it into a book that way.
-All pages include a space in the top left corner for students to draw the flag of each country.
-4 covers (black and white, color, and a blank page)
-World Traveler Pages: As your class “visits” a country, then they can place their passport stamps on it. Select a World Traveler page based upon the number of countries you’ll visit.
-How Do You Say? Page: Students are able to record new and interesting words in different languages on here.
-Fun Fact Page: Students will record what they found most interesting, along with an interesting fact about their own holidays.
-Delicious Food Page: New holiday foods will be introduced, and students will describe and illustrate them.
-Clothing Page: Your students will describe traditional clothing worn during the holidays, and they’ll compare it to the clothes they wear. Students will also illustrate the traditional holiday clothing of a country.
-Traditions Page: The focus is on a specific tradition celebrated in a country, and students also share a specific tradition they celebrate in their family.
-KWL Page: The letters stand for the following: K-What I know, W-What I want to know, and L-What I have learned.
-Snapshots Page: I love to take class photos during this time of students reflecting, crafting, and sharing their thoughts. You can print for students and put on this page. They could also illustrate the snapshots.
-I’m Still Wondering?: This page is dedicated to all the questions students may still have after your unit.
-Passport Stamps: Students will cut the circle out and glue onto their World Traveler page. The following countries are included: Africa, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Denmark, England, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Puerto Rico, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Tunisia, Turkey, Uganda, Ukraine, and U.S.A.
(please email me @ email@example.com if another country is needed)
