Holidays Around the World Activity Includes:
This activity can be used when teaching your students about "Holidays Around the World." You can compile all of the activity pages and create a holiday book for each student or you can have your students complete the activity pages individually. All of the activities are differentiated four different ways.
*Cover Page/Book Cover - Holidays Around the World
*Christmas (differentiated 4 ways)
Symbols include: stocking, Poinsettia, Santa, Christmas tree
*St. Nicholas Day (differentiated 4 ways)
Symbols include: St. Nicholas, shoes, gifts, stocking
*Hanukkah (differentiated 4 ways)
Symbols include: Menorah, Star of David, dreidel, latkes
*Kwanzaa (differentiated 4 ways)
Symbols include: gifts (Zawadi), mat (Mkeka), crops (Mazao), Unity Cup (Kikombe oha Umoja), candleholder and candles (Kinara and Mishumaa Saba), corn (Muhindi)
*St. Lucia Day (differentiated 4 ways)
Symbols include: St. Lucia, bread, wreath, bare feet (which symbolizes charity)
*Las Posadas (differentiated 4 ways)
Symbols include: shelter (posada), pinata, tamales, angel

Kwanzaa Greetings Activity:
*Students match the Kwanzaa symbols with the words.

St. Nicholas Day Activity:
*Students brainstorm four different treats or small toys that they would want to find inside their shoes or stockings from St. Nicholas. The students draw a picture of each gift and use temporary/inventive spelling to label their drawing.

Christmas and Hanukkah Symbols Activity:
*Students use temporary/inventive spelling to label each holiday symbol.
*Christmas symbols include: Christmas tree, Santa, stocking, poinsettia
*Hanukkah symbols include: Menorah, latkes, Star of David, dreidel

St. Lucia Day and Las Posadas Activity:
*Students use temporary/inventive spelling to label each holiday symbol.
*St. Lucia Day symbols include: bare feet, wreath, bread, St. Lucia
*Las Posadas symbols include: tamales, pinata, angel, shelter

Beginning and Ending Sounds Activity Includes:
*Student activity page for writing beginning and ending sounds for the following pictures: reindeer, present, mitten, sled, lights, hat, penguin, wreath, scarf
*Pocket chart picture cards with beginning and ending sounds omitted for whole group practice
*Letter cards to sort in the pocket chart to fill in the missing beginning and ending sounds for each picture

Super Syllable Sort Activity Includes:
*Student activity page for recording the number of syllables for the labeled pictures: mitten, wreath, lights, present, reindeer, sled, scarf, penguin

Presents for the Word Families! Activity Includes:
*This activity is differentiated 3 different ways
*Students color the presents according to their word family. There are three word families on each activity. The word families include: -ake, -ain, -eep, -at, -in, -op, -ink, -ent, -ook

Compound Word Presents! Activity Includes:
*This activity is differentiated 3 different ways
*Students add one word to another word to build a compound word. The students write the compound word on the line and draw a picture inside the present to match their writing. The compound words include: sunshine, football, baseball, rainbow, airplane, basketball, popcorn, toothbrush, sunflower, skateboard, backpack, teacup, sailboat, starfish, butterfly

Presents for Some Letters! Activity Includes:
*There are 10 different versions of this activity.
