When I taught Kindergarten, we each chose a holiday to teach the students and had "Holidays Around the World" rotations. I chose Saint Nicholas, but I couldn't find any books that fit to read to little 5 year olds. My solution: create a Smart Board lesson! I did some research and this is what I came up with.
I even made it more fun and told the students that the floors were just cleaned in my room and they had to take their shoes off and line them up in the hallway. While I was teaching the lesson, another available teacher came and filled their shoes with goodies (I used pencils and erasers). They were elated to find that "Saint Nicholas came to visit them"!
A link to Saint Nicholas activities and games is included.
