The way we used this at my school was for each teacher to take ONE country. This would be the ambassador for that country. Each day, kids would rotate through ONE classroom by “traveling.” (Don’t forget to send their passports!) We would “fly” the kids through the hallways and into the rooms. When we arrived, we would use Google Earth to show where we were starting from, and where we were traveling to on the projector.
SW then read the passages, or the teacher would read it aloud. SW talk about the holiday with partners. Then the SW write in their passports about their country’s holiday/facts. When S finished their passport entry, the TW give out their “stamps” (kid piece & flag piece) to be glued into the passport.
As an incentive, S who finished their passports participated in the activities! Obviously, you will have various levels of students, so adjust this to meet your kids’ needs.
After the activity, if there was time, SW share their information from their passports.
Line the S up at the door for their “Return flight.”
Here you go! Enjoy!
