Here is a holiday game which your students will have fun learning about fractions, their equivalent decimals, and percents. In this PowerPoint lesson, students will be shown fractional parts of circles shaded in fifths, sixth, and eighths. Of course, several of these fractions will be reduced to halves, thirds, and fourths. This lesson has a holiday theme with lighted Christmas trees and reindeer. Plus, as a gift, included is the Fraction Bars PowerPoint which will help you review for the game.
Starting at the main game board have students select a tile by calling a column/row combination. Select the appropriate tile and the hyperlink will take you to one of the fraction circles. If the fraction can be simplified - that slide will be followed by another fraction circle showing the fraction in simplified form. Then a Christmas tree or reindeer will appear. Colored lights or red noses will appear, followed by the equivalent percent for that fractional part. After you reach the fraction/percent on the slide, use the back arrow to take you back to the main game board. Once a tile is selected a picture will appear and that tile cannot be selected again.
The fraction bars lesson will help prepare for this game.
