Get your French students reading with this comprehensible input narrative about certain holidays in France, compared to the USA. Students will read a short narrative (almost 1 full page, 1.5 spaced), from which the teacher can make their own discussion questions. Then students scan different QR codes which will take them to YouTube clips (Christmas Market - English; 14 July fireworks - just for fun; and an explanation of Bastille Day - French with subtitles) and to a chart of French holidays.
Activities: Prompt to discuss their preferred holidays and traditions, a Venn diagram to compare French and American Holidays, matching French holidays to their date and their tradition (based off the QR code chart) and watching the videos (no questions, just for fun and listening practice.)
web address of a QR scanner provided in the document.
I use this at the beginning of French 2, it's all in present tense.
