Product Description

This language packet includes a variety of different language activities that I target on a regular basis. This activity includes a Christmas and Hanukkah theme! All can be played the same way: students complete language tasks and then “hang” their ornaments on their tree OR put a dreidel on their table!

Included activities:

-Tree (pg. 3) and table (pg. 4) to place ornaments and dreidals on

-Pleasing Plurals (regular and irregular): Student pulls an ornament with a singular noun. You can say “there is one snowman, there are many _____” for younger students. The student provides the plural form! (pg. 5-7)

-Perky Pronouns (he, she, they): Each ornament has a sentence with the pronoun missing. Visual for “he, she, and they” is provided (pg. 8) with reminders about the corresponding possessive pronoun. The student pulls an ornament and provides the correct pronoun to complete the sentence! (pg. 8-11)

-Puzzling Problem Identification: Each ornament has a sentence that may or may not be a “problem” situation. Student pulls and ornament and decides if there is or is not a problem. Visual included for sorting (pg. 12). Extension activity: student can provide a plausible solution to the problem. (pg. 12-15)

-Clever Categories (dreidels): Each ornament has either the name of the category or three members within a category. If students pull the category name, they provide 2-3 members of the category. If they pull the members, they name the category. (pg. 16-18)

-Oodles of Opposite Concepts: Each ornament has a concept word (i.e. front). Student pulls an ornament and provides the OPPOSITE concept. For younger students, you can say, “not the top, but the _____.” This activity would be best used when the student has demonstrated comprehension of most of the concepts listed on the next page. (pg. 19-22)

-Wonderful Word Finding (dreidels):

Each dreidel has a common phrase with a missing word. Student pulls a dreidel and provides a word to complete the phrase. (pg. 23-26)

Each activity includes 36 ornaments or 36 dreidels. Print a tree/table for each student. Easy to work on different language skills in groups!
