This Anticipation Guide provides students with the opportunity to discuss a variety of topic statements that connect to the Holocaust,as well as any novel connected to it (Anne Frank, Night, The Devil's Arithmetic).
Students determine their feelings on the statement as: True, False, or Neutral.
They revisit this guide at the end of the unit to determine if their feelings have changed and must explain/cite evidence why.
I use this at the launch of the unit to inspire students to think. i then use several statements to hold a Philosophical Chairs Discussion in the classroom. (See powerpoint to accompany this guide for Philosophical Chairs).
