This project was created from the quote by Mr. Rogers, "When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, "Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping."
For this project, students will choose one "helper" or group of helpers who performed a service to those discriminated against during the holocaust and saved lives. With a list of 61 people and groups, each student is sure to find a hero who speaks to them! They will then write a speech and perform as their chosen hero and turn in a short reflection essay to express their perspective on their hero and his/her actions.
This assignment contains two rubrics, one for the speech (65 points), and one for the reflection essay (35 points). It also contains a list of 61 heroes and a brief description of their actions during the holocaust.
