POSERS is an AVID strategy that requires to students to make inferences about people, objects, setting, engagement, and relationships in a photograph or image. They also write a summary about what they see and what they think the image represents. Students present this summary to the class, sharing their information, and the teacher can then confirm their inferences or help build understanding related to these 15 Holocaust images. Images include life in the camps, life in the Warsaw ghetto, survivors, diary entries, Hiter's rise to power, Pearl Harbor, and much more.
Powerpoint, PDF, and Keynote forms all in 1 zip file. All presentations include directions for use, 13 images and information about the 13 images used. Plus, additional supplemental information and a claim, evidence, analysis writing prompt. You can edit the presentation to make it fit your needs -- add to it, delete slides, change directions -- it is a living document!
You can download the AVID POSER Graphic Organizer online for free from AVID or other websites.
