The following resource is 4 ready-to-print pages.
Page 1 is a specific essay outline to write after viewing Life is Beautiful.
Page 2 is an example of the first 3 paragraphs of that essay, enough to get your students started.
Page 3 is an alternate writing assignment that doesn't require Life is Beautiful to write, in case a student is absent for too much of the film.
Page 4 is a set of three ultra-detailed questions that could serve as Reading Comprehension - it's own assignment as students are viewing the film to lead a discussion.
Ultimately, I found this movie to be perfect to accompany novels set in the Holocaust setting. I usually break up the movie into two class-viewings, while students have pg 4. Students can complete the essay over a weekend or in an additional class period.
