Animated Step-by-Steps are animated PowerPoints designed to address literacy, language, AAC and a host of academic goals. Each page includes a series of animations. Read the text up to the star … click … and see an animation of what you just read.
There are 3 versions of this resource. This is the Picture Communication Symbol version (Tobii Dynavox) of this title.
This Animated Step-by-Step song, Home on the Bus, is a great activity to achieve closure at the end of the school day. It is sung to the tune of 'Goodnight Louise'. There is a 'song button' in the event you don't know that particular traditional tune.
It’s time to go home on the bus now
‘Cause now our day is done
We’ll see you all another day
So goodbye everyone
Goodbye to _________
To ________ goodbye
Goodbye, goodbye to _________
It’s time to go home on the _______ (students are encouraged to shout out bus!)
This song is designed to be personalized with the text names and photo faces of your students. I have purposely provided an editable PowerPoint file to facilitate this task. You will be changing existing content with your content … Caution: DO NOT delete anything as you will disrupt the animation sequence.
To include the names of your students simply double click the text cursor in the xxxxxx placeholders and type in the new name. DO NOT delete the xxxxxx’s placeholder, just select them and type over them. The text animations will remain intact!
To change out the current illustrated faces with the photo faces of your students, please visit the Animated Step-by-Steps™ blog for detailed information. You will be using the change picture command of PowerPoint to change the pictures without disrupting the complex animation sequence. http://bit.ly/personalizing
A followup blog post (02-22-16) provides valuable information on how to create photo faces with transparent backgrounds.
This resource can be viewed on the 'big screen' (interactive whiteboard, large screen computer monitor, large screen TV using an iPad and Apple TV) or the 'small screen' (iPad) using the free Microsoft PowerPoint app.
Although it will require a bit of effort on your part to personalize this file… it will be well worth the effort in terms of student engagement.
Hope you have fun using this resource with your class!
