This power point presentation contains background information for understanding Homer's The Iliad. It includes notes on genre conventions, literary devices used in the text, a note on the judgment of Paris, a cast of characters, notes on the heroic code, and a bit on Greek culture.
While this is a good power point and can easily be added to, it is not meant to augment a study of the entire poem. For the purposes of my own class, I typically teach seven of the twenty-four books. As such, it does not provide a comprehensive listing of characters, only those who are integral to the plot and who reoccur throughout the text.
