This homework focuses on each letter of the alphabet and is great for differentiating as it allows more advanced students to start writing their answers from day 1 (using phonetic spelling of difficult words) and students who struggle to also experience success with proper scaffolding and an adult’s guidance. All students complete more of the homework independently as the days go by and they are more confident in their abilities and as they improve their skills.
It is the perfect homework tool for students as they:
• Practice writing the capital and lower case letter
• Learn each letter name and practice the letter sounds
• Learn the difference between real words and nonsense words as they read them
• Brainstorm words that start with the given letter
• Work on rhyming
• Practice the beginning letter sound in words
• Segment and blend each word by himself or herself or with an adult’s help
• Learn personal responsibility and good time management skills
Families also like this tool as they work with their child and are able to assist him/her and guide him/her while staying informed.
This product helps students with their phonemic awareness and phonics skills.
I recommend using this homework after the first 2 to 3 weeks that are introductory based on many Literacy curricula across the country. This would also benefit students in 1st grade who need a quick review at the beginning of the year. The pages could be used as part of the Literacy (Reading & Writing) Center as partner work AND/OR part of your Learning/Reading Buddies Program where an older student is the guiding person.

VERY IMPORTANT AND USEFUL TO KNOW
"Earn TpT Credits for purchases on TpT. You get one TpT Credit for every $ you spend on TpT. Thing is, you only get the Credits after you Provide Feedback -- both a fair rating and a fair comment -- on the items that you purchase. We will round up for you, too! If you provide fair feedback on a $4.75 item, you will earn 5 credits. Every 100 Credits is worth $5 that you can apply towards future TpT purchases, but there is no need to wait until you have 100 to redeem them. 50 credits is worth $2.50, for example.
How to Redeem TpT Credits
You can keep track of how many credits you have accrued here or on the top of the site after login. When you check out, you will be given the option of applying your TpT Credits to your purchase, thereby discounting your purchase price accordingly."
