I've used this Homework calendar for many years, very successfully. This calendar will get the student who never completes homework interested in getting some homework done.
This is an excel file so that you can update the dates you need. I also included 4 PDF Generic Calendars if you prefer to not update an Excel file, these generic calendars should work well.
We write the assignment on each box, and the date it's due right in the same box. When assignments are due, students who complete it get a 'stamp', even high schoolers want those stamps so badly, they will beg for them.
We discuss any problems they had with the homework but I never pick up a piece of paper because each student keeps their calendar in their binder and they turn in the calendar at the end of the quarter for a project grade. The number of stamps in the calendar divided by the number of homework assignments is their grade.
This is an easy way to give extra credit, some weeks I tell my students that if the homework is brought in a day early for assignments that take more than 1 night, I will give them 2 stamps instead of one stamp. They love it!
I even used it when I taught a class at the community college and it works great.
