Monitoring homework can be time-consuming for teachers. Of course, we all want all of our students to turn in their homework, but some kids never do. Grading homework helps to hold students accountable, but homework grades are not a fair assessment of a student’s academic progress because teachers do not know what is happening when students are at home. Homework might be completed by or with a parent or sibling, while other children have no home support at all.
This is what I use in my classroom to encourage my students to complete their homework. These motivational rewards are fun for students, and best of all, it can be implemented with little time, effort, or expenses from the teacher.
