Looking for age-appropriate homework? Young children learn best through play and hands-on experiences! These homework choice boards provide parents with suggestions to help them engage with their children in ways that will promote success in school. These activities are designed to encourage academic learning as well as turn-taking, curiosity, physical fitness, social skills, observation, problem solving skills, and good character.
This product comes in a zipped folder including a PDF file as well an a partially editable PowerPoint file.
In this set you will find a parent letter explaining the use and purpose of the homework menus, 36 choice boards, three print and play sight word games, and homework forms to guide families in encouraging at-home learning.
These choiceboards are full of activities for children to do with their parents. These are not intended to be independent activities, but rather are intended to foster family involvement.
Eight of the menus do not have a theme. These can be used any time of year and can be used more than once. The others have the following themes:
Back to School, Letters All Around, Apples, Fall, Pumpkins, Bats, Owls, Thanksgiving, Winter Holidays, Bears, Winter, Penguins, Valentine’s Day, Dental Health, St. Patrick’s Day, Rhyme Time, Plants, Earth Day, Butterflies, Mother’s Day/Families, Frogs, Summer, Oceans, Farms, Wild Animals, Maps, Then and Now, Community Helpers
In addition, this set includes printable comic strip forms, a Share-A-Book form (these are great for building enthusiasm for reading at home!), three editable sight word games, and forms for sharing family experiences and interesting finds in newspapers and magazines.
Which parts of this set are editable?
The zipped file includes a PDF (not editable) and a PowerPoint file that is partially editable. Users are able to edit the text in each of the cells of the choice board, but not the images (which are flattened as part of the background for copyright reasons). There is also a blank board without pictures which users can customize with text and images of their own. The directions at the top of all of the boards are editable, as well. In addition, the sight word games are editable so users can type whichever words they're working on into the cells.
