This document includes everything you need at the beginning of the year to set-up your students' homework notebook. It also includes an easy-to-use teacher checklist to keep track of the students that turn in their homework, as well as no homework passes for students as a positive reward. Also included is a pre-made notice for parents if a student isn't turning in homework.
How I Use This:
In my class, I use homework notebooks to streamline the homework process in my classroom. I use the checklist to quickly check who has completed their reading and math fact logs each week, as well as who has completed their spelling homework in their notebooks. Each Monday, students glue in their reading and math logs and label pages for their spelling practice. Students are required to work in their homework notebook throughout the week, and it is due each Friday. On Friday mornings, I have students keep their notebooks out on their desk opened to the pages they worked on throughout that week. I go around and use my checklist to quickly check who has their homework and who does not.
At the beginning of the year, I use the labels to have students create their cover and glue this to the front. I have students glue in the spelling tic tac toe on the back of the front cover of the notebook to reference each week.
I hope that this helps other teachers manage homework within the classroom.
