This is a great paper to help your students develop good work habits and solid study skills.
As us teachers know, completing homework is an essential part of everyday learning for various reasons: It allows students to take part in class discussions, participate in answering questions, work in small groups, and it also allows them to ask questions for clarification or seek help during lessons and/or class discussions.
Helping students take responsibility for their learning begins with listening in class, asking questions, understanding their work and furthermore, completing their homework so they can continue to learn each day.
It is important that students set aside time for homework, making it their number one priority.
This homework paper helps students keep track of homework that needs to be completed. When an assignment is due but not handed in nor completed by students, a homework paper is given with clear outlines as to what work needs to be completed under each specific subject. Letters are sent home and to be discussed and viewed by parent(s)/guardian(s, signed and returned with completed work.
In my classroom, each student will receive a maximum of 3 homework letters. After the third homework letter, there will be no further notice; however, further consequences will be reinforced and essentially, lack of effort and completion of homework will be reflected in their report cards.
You can file this letter in your students portfolio so that you can make references to it and have easy access.
Don't forget, you can customize this paper any which way you want!
Start the new school year enforcing good work habits so each of your students can learn to the best of their learning potential.
