With these menu logs, students will do more with their nightly reading homework than just write the title and pages read.
~ This resource contains 4 weeks' worth of reading log menus, 4 nights to a page. Each week is its own page, especially helpful for those teachers who must conserve copies.
~Simply copy a week (or a month) at a time. Be sure to add in how much time you want them to read at home (I left a blank at the top for this) before completing a task. Pass the log out on Mondays. I allow my students to choose which menu item to complete each night, since they often have varying amounts of time after school just like we do. I check it daily for 1 box done and then collect them on Fridays.
*Each week contains clarifying practice and a summary
*Other skills include: comparing/contrasting characters, predicting, text connections, character analysis, and text structure.
Instead of using it for homework, it may also be used for independent reading accountability in class.
Try it out. If you have any other suggestions or want to see something added for your state's standards, let me know.
