My students LOVE to play homeworkopoly! It is an excellent incentive for students to do their homework throughout the whole week. The best part: the prizes are FREE for the teacher! This game board is Leader in Me themed with spaces like Proactive Place, Synergy Square, Leader Lane, and more! It also incorporates ClassDojo points! Have another PBIS incentive or theme you want incorporated? Contact me.
You will need:
Game board (included)
CHANCE cards (20 included)
COMMUNITY LUNCHBOX cards (20 included)
Game piece for each student (not included)
1 die (not included) I use a large foam die
Print the Homeworkopoly board into a poster size. Laminate the poster. Print pg. 2 & 3 front to back and pg. 2 & 4 front to back. Print pg. 5 & 6 front to back and pg. 5 & 7 front to back. Cut out CHANCE and COMMUNITY LUNCHBOX cards or use Avery 5371 Business Cards, if you want to save time. Laminate cards. Choose what you want to use for student game pieces. I use numbers cut out, laminated, and glued to magnets.
Now you're ready to play.
Here's what I do to keep things straight:
- Keep a log of students that complete ALL of their homework throughout the week.
- Call students up that have completed their homework all week as they are packing up on Friday afternoons to roll the die. Student moves their game piece (in my class it is just a number on the back of a small magnet) that many spaces. If they land on a CHANCE space, they pick a CHANCE card. If they land on on COMMUNITY LUNCHBOX space, they pick a COMMUNITY LUNCHBOX card.
- If they win something like "Switch seats for the day," I write it on my homework log. They are responsible though for making sure they use their prize the following Monday.
