There are 24 task cards where the students need to determine the meaning of the underlined homonym. They will look at how it is being used in the sentence and use context clues.
There is a worksheet with 2 boxes that say meaning 1 and meaning 2. Print the worksheet for the students. Then, you can write a homonym in from the word list or one of your own. This way you can give certain students certain words that you know won’t be too difficult for them.
There are homonym cards that you can print and laminate. Give the students a card and they will write the homonym on the blank line.
Students will illustrate 2 meanings of their homonym and then write a sentence to go along with their picture (see example worksheet).
Recording sheet and answer key included. There is also a black and white version for easy printing.
Great for a center or SCOOT where you place the cards around the room and students move from one to the next and answer the questions.
Activity can be used after the task cards or as an end of the unit activity.
