Homonyms: Words that sound the same, look the same, but can have different meanings!

Students fill in the blanks of two sentences that use the same homonym. These words have different meanings in each sentence. Also included are matching word cards containing the homonyms used.

Example:
Do you think the log will float or _____ in the lake?
Jamie and Chris put the dirty dishes in the _____ before going outside.

Answer: sink
This activity could be used as a game or center activity. I have implemented it in a second, third, and fourth grade classroom as a whole group activity, small group pracitce, and center.
