This is a literacy center that I have used in my classroom to help the students understand how to distinguish various homophones. It allows students to claim ownership of the words by having them draw a picture and create their own sentence using the homophones. I have used both the index card method and the notebook paper method for having my students complete the center activity. I like using the index cards because then students have built in flash cards but they are hard to keep up with. I have included both direction sheets so that you can choose for yourself which method is best for your class.
I have this as a part of my regular literacy centers. I introduce the first set of homophones whole group and go over how to complete the activity. After that students are responsible for completing the activity on their own during center time.
