This set, Homophone Games and Activities, includes four fun and engaging homophone activities and games perfect for whole group, individual assessment and group or partner work. Simply copy and cut out and you're ready to go! This is a great breakaway from the tradition paper and pencil homophone worksheets.
.)Homophone Task Cards- place around the room for students to walk around and answer. Answer key included. Can be used as an evaluation tool at the end of the homophone unit.
.)Homophone Memory Game and writing activity- just like when you were a kid- students flip cards upside down in rows and turn over two at time. If the two words are homophones, they keep the pair. If the two cards are not homophones, the students flip the back over and the next player has a turn. As a follow up to this activity, I have included a writing activity for students to do after completing the game. This is great to access students work during partner work or station work.
.)Homophone Old Maid card game- just like the card game- students use the homophone word cards as well as the Old Maid card to play against a partner to find matching homophone pairs. The one left with the Old Maid in the end loses.
..)Homophone "I have, Who has" cards- each student receives a card. The first player reads his or her card and the students who has the meaning of the homophone that was just read then reads his or her card. Play continues in this manner until all cards have been read. Great for whole group practice that is not a traditional worksheet.
