This product can be used as a hook to get students thinking about homophones. It can also be used as an assessment to see if they can catch all of your "mistakes" throughout the letter.
I chose to use it as an opening activity, and afterwards, I had my students work in partner pairs to create their own Homophone Letter. We turned it into a competition-- who could write the letter with the most incorrect homophones? After giving them 10-15 minutes to write their own letters, I had the students switch to try to catch each other's mistakes.
It was an engaging lesson that really got them thinking about homophones and the words they use in their writing.
