Includes a PPT introducing homophones (words that sound the same but are spelt differently and have different meanings; ex. blue and blew)
Includes 3 super fun, hands-on centers:
*My students absolutely LOVED these!!! I hope yours do too :)
1) Homophone Spinboard- Spin on a spin board (or you could use a spinner wheel), land on a sentence strip. Read the sentence and decide which homophone fits in the blank.
2) Homophone Bowling- Tape the homophones to the bowling pins. Tape the pictures to the floor, in a typical bowling pin configuration (4 in back, 3, 2, and 1 in front). To set up the pins, match the homophone on the pin to the correct picture on the floor. Once all the pins are set up, you can knock them down!
3) Homophone Balloon Pop- Blow up balloons and tape a homophone to each balloon. We pinned the balloons to a clothesline on one end of the hallway, and laid the sentence strips on the other end of the hallway. The students scootered down the hallway to get a sentence strip. Read the sentence, and decide which homophone fills in the blank. Scooter back down to the other end of the hallway, to find the correct homophone on the balloon. Once you've found it, you can pop it! My students LOVED this one!
