Homophones Match Up Game
In this game you will work on your own, each student will get a different coloured set of matching cards. Students need to match the words with the picture that shows the correct meaning of the word, this will require you to think hard about the word and how it might be shown in a picture form.
Once all the words are matched with their picture, then you need to match the homophones together, eg. flour and flower, to show the words that sound the same but have different meaning.
Extension: Students can write a sentence for each of the words. If you are looking for a challenge, try using both of the homophones in one sentence, eg. The mail deliver is a male.
Pack up, collect the matching cards, shuffle the cards and put them back in the bag, don’t mix colours.
