This product includes 3 sets of task cards for student practice with homophones for a total of 90 individual task cards. Each set provides students with a different type of practice, adding a level of differentiation to these task cards.
The first set consists of 44 task cards and allows students to practice reading a sentence and choosing the correct homophone to complete the sentence.
The second set consists of 26 task cards and allows students to practice by giving them a homophone which they must use to create a sentence.
The third set consists of 20 task cards and allows students to practice by identifying the different homophones used in a sentence.
Teachers can use these task cards in a variety of ways in their classrooms. For example, scavenger hunts, partner or group task card work, whole group, small group, literacy centers or stations, intervention stations or small groups, and as assessments.
Teachers can also extend upon these task cards. For instance, after completing the third set of task cards, the teacher could give each student on of the task cards and have them create a picture based on the sentence which would show the meaning of the sentence. Students could then create a story based on that one task card.
The homophones used on these task cards were compiled from several different fourth grade lists, as well as my knowledge of what my own students have needed practice with in the past.
These task cards are a great addition to your classroom!
