Homophones, Homonyms, Homographs ... all have nuanced differences and all can be very confusing for English Language learners. This worksheet defines the differences and outlines many common English homophones. Putting homophones next to one another helps students to visually see what exactly homophones are and just how common they are in the English language.
The 2-page worksheet of Homophones is first handed out to the student's, and they are asked which of the pairs are in fact homophones. We make our way through the pairs, until someone invariably realizes that they are all homophones. We spend time translating the word pairs into their native language - filling each translation in the space below each word. Then we discuss why it's important to know homophones in English.
This is a 6-page printable containing a 2-page color worksheet and a 2-page black and white worksheet, so you can choose which is best for you! For an idea of the quality of this product, download my 96 Opposite Pairs Worksheet at the link below.
