Product Description
Often, the Enlightenment period is dense and difficult unit to teach. This lesson uses a class simulation approach to some of the most important philosophers and how their contributions are felt even today. Students take notes over the power point presentations and then work on selecting a philosopher that they will emulate during a "tea party" at a French salon.
Directions on the power point will allow them to:
create a tri - fold hat, correlating from their notes, participate in etiquette lesson of the period, listen to period music (if the teacher so wishes). The end of the lesson consists of a "time warp" in which students are transported to the future in which they will discuss photos / art of various movements (civil rights, manifest destiny, etc. They will also respond to primary source documents (included) and finish by writing thank-you notes to the philosopher.
Students enjoy the simulation and begin to process the information at a much high level. It has always been one of their and my favorite lessons to facilitate.
I hope you enjoy!
