This Smartboard lesson will go through and give examples of creative story leads when writing. Students can take notes on different leads in their writer's notebook and add examples for each type given.
Before creative leads are addressed, a slide is also dedicated to show students BAD and INEFFECTIVE leads. Models again are used so students understand the concepts.
Some of the leads addressed include: one word leads, figurative language leads, setting the scene, action leads and starting in the middle of the story, dialogue and question leads.
Teaching story writing can be challenging, but this lesson will help students become less anxious on knowing how to begin.
