I love this Dr. Seuss story! This story is great for the time of year when testing is arriving. I love to celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday with my kiddos and enjoy his stories! With this story I review story element standards and also help my students build confidence prior to testing. Hooray for Diffendoofer Day has a great message! I like to use comprehension questions that are specific to the text that the students are using. It makes it easier to give them specific feedback and guidance.
The Hooray for Diffendoofer Day task card question set has 5 comprehension questions and 5 vocabulary questions with an answer key for easy accountability.
The questions include the following skills:
- Point of View
- Text Features
- Problem Impact on the Characters
I have included the following graphic organizers:
- Beginning, Middle, End
- Story Elements Chart
- A central message worksheet that uses synthesizing as a strategy to get to the central message.
- A character study worksheet with character traits and motivations.
- A Double Bubble Map to compare and contrast Diffendoofer School to Flobbertown.
