New to Responsive Classroom Hopes and Dreams?? Or are you an RC master looking for a new activity? Either way this Leo the Lightning Bug activity is great for all grade levels to introduce hopes and dreams AND growth mindset. Establishing hopes and dreams for the school year is a fundamental part to ensuring you have a successful year. In my classroom, we keep our Hopes and Dreams on a special bulletin board and constantly refer back to them so that we make sure to try our best daily to reach our goal. By using the Leo the Lightning Bug read-aloud by Eric Drachman, students will be able to use Leo’s hopes and dreams to help them think of their own for the school year. I made a variety of templates so that you can differentiate in your classroom to fit your students’ needs!
In addition to hopes and dreams, this activity works great with introducing growth mindset and allowing students to see that they can do hard things without giving up just like Leo! Use this activity as a DOUBLE whammy to allow students to make goals and encourage them to have a growth mindset.
