This is the ninth booklet in the Hopping on the Number Chart series. In Level Nine, students will grow familiar with the hundreds chart while playing with addition and subtraction concepts. They will work backwards to determine the equation’s path and represent it on the number chart. Finally, they will draw the missing number in place value blocks. The goal of this level is for students to learn to think of addition and subtraction as opposite actions while becoming even more familiar with the hundred chart. When a student "graduates" from Level Nine, he/she moves to Level Ten. Each level increases a bit in difficulty. Use these booklets as a whole-class lesson, as a math center activity, as a challenge booklet, or as work to do if other math work is completed. Copy the booklet two sided and staple at the left side top and bottom. Cut each set in half to create two booklets. Happy Hopping!! :) Lisa Buchholz

Management Tip: Do not allow students to progress from one page to the next unless they have been checked by you. Place a star on all corrected pages as a “license” to move on. This will ensure that no student gets off on the wrong track and continues on that wrong path.
