This worksheet was designed for an AP Biology class and describes two genes found in horses, the gait-keeper gene which controls whether a horse will trot or pace, and the flaxen gene which controls mane color. Students are asked to do crosses involving both traits; example TTFf x ttff. Students in AP biology are taught to use the mathematical method to solve these types of problems and not Punnet squares. This worksheet is available for free at https://www.biologycorner.com/worksheets/genetics_horse.html

The answer key provided here also contains the student worksheet.

Apply concepts of statistics and probability to support explanations that organisms with an advantageous heritable trait tend to increase in proportion to organisms lacking this trait. Emphasis is on analyzing shifts in numerical distribution of traits and using these shifts as evidence to support explanations. Assessment is limited to basic statistical and graphical analysis. Assessment does not include allele frequency calculations.
