Up, up, and away! Have your students get a ticket for a hot air balloon ride (either with numbers or ten frames), count out the number of people counters to match, and place in the hot air balloon for a breathtaking ride! We even made the hot air balloon baskets out of ice cream cups to hold the people counters. So much fun for a transportation theme! Check out my transportation bundle by clicking below!

Understand that each successive number name refers to a quantity that is one larger.
Understand that the last number name said tells the number of objects counted. The number of objects is the same regardless of their arrangement or the order in which they were counted.
When counting objects, say the number names in the standard order, pairing each object with one and only one number name and each number name with one and only one object.
Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities; connect counting to cardinality.
