Product Description
Students will explore the process of creating an experiment through the theme of solving the hot coffee problem using the McDonald's lawsuit as an overarching storyline.
Students also explore the properties of Thermal Energy and Energy Transfer. They will research the Conduction, Convection, and Radiation as well as Specific Heat and Heat Capacity.

This is a unit plan which took about 8-10 days to work through. I have included the reading links that I had the students read to learn the key terms and to take notes on thermal energy properties. I have also included an article on the McDonald's law suit to use to open the topic and frame the experiment as a problem they need to solve. The students become the engineers! Designing solutions to a real world problem!
