The rules for this “Hangman”-style word game are simple.
You have a hot dog. Pigeons love hot dogs… Don’t let the pigeon eat your hot dog!
Player 1 uses the hot dog “letter cards” to write a sight word. After the word is written out, he hides the letters by flipping the cards over—so now only the “hot dog” sides of the cards are showing.
It’s player 2’s turn to guess! If player 2 can correctly guess a letter in the sight word, then player 1 reveals that letter in his word by flipping over the matching “hot dog” card. The pigeon (player 2) just took a bite out of your hot dog!
Player 2 continues to guess until all letters have been revealed (and the entire hot dog has been eaten!)
If player 2 guesses a letter that is not in the sight word, then one of the pigeon’s “Question Marks” gets crossed out. If all six question marks get crossed out before the word is guessed, then player 1 wins (and gets to eat the rest of the hot dog)! Yum!!
