Description
These discussion stations are the perfect speaking and listening activity to get your students engaged and discussing hot topics: Should we legalize marijuana? Are video games bad for us? Should we start school later? Is the four day school week more effective? Is it ok to read and study while you listen to music?
Students will take turns leading the discussion. They can play an optional youtube video (if you have access to technology) and then will read pertinent facts to the rest of the group. The other students will take notes and then engage in a discussion about the topic. Afterwards, they will do a peer and self-assessment.
Each station takes approximately fifteen minutes so, depending on the length of your class, you may need to spread this activity over two days. Or, you can just create stations where the students discuss the same topic and do this five different times. My students absolutely love these and have begged me to make more!
