How many of your students have read the book, "Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See?" by Eric Carle? That's right--almost all of them!
I used that familiar and predictable text as a starting point, to create, "House, House What Do You See?" as an emerging guided reader to supplement my "All About Family" unit for Kindergarten students. The House sees family members!
Using this text, students will gain experience in reading sight words, coupled with strong predictable text and visual support.
This reader would be great to use at the beginning of the year, to kick off a family unit of study, or as an extension after reading, "Brown Bear, Brown Bear".
This reader comes with tips and strategies for teaching sight words and ideas for differentiation using the same book. It also has a reader's response included and a mini-assessment to gauge whether students were able to learn the concepts addressed.
This product addresses Kindergarten CCSS:
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RF.K.3.C Read common high-frequency words by sight
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.K.10 Actively engage in group reading activities with purpose and understanding.
Thank you so much for your purchase and I truly hope you find this product as useful in your classroom as I have in mine!
