Today, you’re house sitting! You’ll get paid, but you must successfully answer a series of ratio problems using your packet and ppt before you can leave the house.
Topics of Focus:
- Ratio Problems
- Pencil, calculator, ppt, activity packed
Play the PowerPoint from the start. Use your packet in conjunction to advance through the house. You must successfully answer a question before leaving a room. If you cannot, don’t panic. You will be directed to a sample problem or helpful hint, and given the chance to try again. When a question asks for work, show all steps. Whatever formula you use, numerical substitutions, and UNITS. Units count! Happy house-sitting!
Excellent review activity for Pre-Algebra students and general math courses in grades 7 and up. Topics include ratio and equivalent problems.
Complete in class or assign packet and ppt as homework. As the ppt is run, the prompts will lead to slides with questions to be solved. If a student (or the class) chooses an incorrect answer choice, the ppt will jump to an "Incorrect" help slide. Returns the student to the question for another try. They must get the correct answer before being allowed to proceed. Run the presentation as a Slide Show from the beginning so there's no skipping ahead or previews of answers.
