Are your students needing to expand their vocabulary in a variety of ways? This bumper pack is suitable for use with initial / emergent students and provides a valuable source of varied and engaging tasks for teaching and reinforcing vocabulary related to their homes. The activities are supported by reference sheets so that students are able to complete worksheets independently and consequently experience feelings of success and build confidence in using English. Worksheets are available for students who have reached various levels of English acquisition within the initial / emergent categories ranging from providing one word answers, true or false, simple sentence writing (using prepositions) through to deduction, from the more challenging ‘What am I worksheets’ where reading and comprehension of additional vocabulary is required.
Some worksheets are available in colour if required but most are in black and white to minimise printing costs. Where possible answers have been provided so that peer marking is a possibility.
The bingo and dominoes games encourage interaction with peers. Naming the items as much as possible while playing the games is recommended as this obviously helps with vocabulary retention when learning new English words. However, if students are in the "Silent Period" they should not be put under any pressure to speak but they will be quietly absorbing information. All the games use only the vocabulary provided in the reference pages so that students are familiar with all the words and items used.
The contents pages are included in the preview.
