"How Big is My Problem?" can be used to facilitate a discussion on when to ask for help from an adult and when to tackle a problem independently. In a group setting, talk about each level and have students share examples of when they have faced problems in their own lives.
This handout is designed to help kids feel more prepared, increase independence, and reduce tattling. It can also be useful to go over strategies that can be used at each level (and emergency protocol if necessary).
"How Big is My Problem?" can also be displayed as a poster to remind students to think before reacting when they get frustrated--works perfectly in emoji themed classrooms!
