Pages 3-5: Amazing Word Cards
Pages 6-10: Spelling Word and Challenge Word Cards
Pages 11-14: Word Wise (I print the word cards out and laminate them). Students find two word cards with each spelling: sh, th, ch, tch, and ng. Write sentences using each word. They also must create a list of words they think of with the same spelling pattern. This is two pages, so you can either front to back copy it or staple the two pages together.
Pages 15-17: Word Work: (I print the word cards out and laminate them). Students find two words with each sound from the word cards: /sh/, /th/, /ch/, /tch/, and /ng/. Write the words and then write a rhyming word for each word.
Pages 18-19: Let’s Write! (I hang up the writing directions poster to help student remember how to write directions). Students write directions for playing a game that you like to play. Use words such as first, then, next, and finally to make the direction clear.
Pages 20: Words To Know: Students use magazines or books and list five unfamiliar words. Then they look up their meanings and use each word in a sentence.
Page 21: Read For Meaning: Students read a Leveled Reader. Write a sentence that tells the main idea and several sentences that give details about the main idea.
